Pembroke Pines Tree Service

Pembroke Pines was built in a hurry in the 1990s, and the trees that came with every house are now 25 to 30 years old and too big for the lot. We trim, remove and grind stumps from Chapel Trail to Pembroke Falls, with the city permit and the HOA letter handled.

A 1990s city whose trees have grown up

Most of Pembroke Pines west of University Drive did not exist in 1985. Chapel Trail, Silver Lakes, Pembroke Falls, Grand Palms, Pembroke Lakes and Towngate were built on filled land in a ten-year burst, and every lot got the same landscape package: a black olive or oak in the swale, a couple of queen or royal palms, a mahogany in the yard, a hedge along the fence. Those trees are now mature, the lots are small, and the trees are over the roof, in the pool cage and lifting the sidewalk.

The work here is mostly right-sizing: thinning and raising trees that are too big for where they were planted, removing the ones that cannot be saved, and replacing them with something that fits. HOAs run most of these communities and the city requires an HOA letter with the removal permit, so we handle both.

Tree services we provide in Pembroke Pines

  • Tree trimming & pruning - 1990s black olives, oaks and mahoganies thinned and raised off roofs and pool cages on small HOA lots.
  • Tree removal - removals of overgrown swale and yard trees, with the city permit, HOA approval letter and the 30-day replacement planned together.
  • Stump grinding - stumps ground below grade so the replacement tree the city requires can go in within the 30-day window.
  • Palm trimming - queen, royal and foxtail palms cleaned to HOA standards without over-trimming.
  • Storm & emergency service - downed trees cleared after storms that roll in off the Everglades, priority for trees on houses.
  • Lot & land clearing - overgrown lots and hedge lines cleared with protected trees flagged first.

Pembroke Pines neighborhoods and the trees in them

Chapel Trail and Silver Lakes, out near US 27, are the farthest west and the most exposed. The planted black olives and oaks there took the full force of Wilma with nothing to the west but sawgrass, and many were topped in the cleanup and have grown back with weak, multiple leaders. Those need weight reduction and proper structural pruning, not another topping.

Pembroke Falls, Grand Palms and Pembroke Lakes are gated and HOA-managed, with common-area trees maintained by the association and yard trees that are the homeowner's problem. The most common calls are oaks and mahoganies planted within ten feet of the house that now shade the roof and drop onto the pool, and queen palms that were never cleaned. The eastern side of the city, from Century Village to the neighborhoods near Pembroke Road, is older, with 1960s and 1970s ranches and bigger, older trees on larger lots.

Tree removal permits in Pembroke Pines

Pembroke Pines requires a permit to remove any tree with a trunk 4 inches in diameter or larger. The application goes to the Planning and Economic Development Department through the city's Development HUB portal and must include a sketch of the tree locations, at least one color photo of each tree, the reason for removal, and a letter of approval from your homeowners association where one applies. Nothing can come down until the permit is issued, and a replacement tree must be planted within 30 calendar days of the removal. We prepare the application, photos and sketch, coordinate the HOA letter with you, and schedule the replacement. Our Broward tree permit guide explains the county rules that sit underneath the city's.

Storm season on the edge of the Everglades

Western Pembroke Pines has no windbreak. Storms cross the Everglades and hit Chapel Trail and Silver Lakes with nothing in the way, and the planted trees on small lots go over onto roofs and into pool cages. The prevention is the same as everywhere in Broward but matters more here: thin the canopy so wind passes through, reduce the weight on long limbs, take the coconuts and dead fronds off the palms, and remove trees that are already leaning or have rotted centers. After a storm we clear trees off structures first, open driveways and streets, and cut debris to the size the city's contractors will collect.

Pembroke Pines tree service questions

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Pembroke Pines?
Yes, for any tree with a trunk 4 inches or more in diameter. The application needs photos, a sketch and, if you are in an HOA, the association's approval letter, and the tree cannot come down until the permit is issued. We handle the paperwork and the 30-day replacement planting.
My HOA has to approve the removal. Can you help with that?
Yes. The city requires the HOA letter with the permit application, so we give you the written scope, photos and the arborist's reason for removal that most Pembroke Pines associations ask for, and we wait for their letter before filing.
The builder planted a tree right next to my house. Can it be saved?
Often, yes. Oaks and mahoganies planted too close can be thinned and raised to keep them off the roof for years. When the roots are already at the foundation or in the pool deck, removal and a properly placed replacement is the honest answer, and we will tell you which it is.
How fast can you get out to Chapel Trail or Silver Lakes after a storm?
Storm and emergency calls go to the front of the schedule, and trees on houses come first. Western Pembroke Pines is a priority area for us after any storm because the exposure out there is the worst in the city.
How much does tree service cost in Pembroke Pines?
Most trimming jobs on a typical HOA lot are a few hundred dollars, and removals depend on the size of the tree and how tight the lot is. Estimates are free and include the permit work. Our Broward tree removal cost guide shows typical ranges.
