Weston Tree Service
Weston is the most tightly managed landscape in Broward: every neighborhood has an HOA standard, and the city requires any tree company to be registered and any removal to be permitted. We work to that standard from Bonaventure to Weston Hills and Savanna.

Planned, uniform, and protected
Weston was master-planned by Arvida starting in 1984, and it shows in the trees. Royal palms line the boulevards in matched rows, live oaks and mahoganies were planted on a schedule, and clusia and ficus hedges run the property lines in every community. The city and the HOAs expect it to stay that way. Weston requires any company that trims or removes trees for a homeowner to be registered with the city under Chapter 122 of the code, and a removal or relocation needs a city permit that is only issued when there is no other way to save the tree.
That makes Weston a maintenance city more than a removal city. The work is keeping royal palms cleaned without over-trimming, raising oaks off roofs and pool cages, reducing mahoganies that have outgrown small lots, and shaping hedges to the community standard. When a tree really has to come out, we document why, pull the city permit, and plant what the city and the HOA require. Broward Tree Services is a licensed Broward County tree trimmer, which is the base requirement, and we handle the Weston registration as part of working in the city.
Tree services we provide in Weston
- Palm trimming - royal palms along Weston's boulevards and in every community cleaned on schedule, dead fronds and seed pods only, never cut into a pineapple.
- Tree trimming & pruning - live oaks and mahoganies in Weston Hills, Savanna and The Falls raised off roofs and thinned to the HOA standard.
- Tree removal - permitted removals with the city application, the HOA approval and the replacement or Tree Trust payment handled.
- Stump grinding - stumps ground below grade so the replacement tree goes in the same spot and the lot stays to code.
- Storm & emergency service - downed trees and palms cleared after storms that arrive off the Everglades with nothing in the way.
- Lot & land clearing - acreage lots in Windmill Ranch Estates and the estate sections cleared with protected trees flagged first.
Weston neighborhoods and the trees in them
Bonaventure, on the east side along the Bonaventure Boulevard golf courses, is the oldest part of Weston, built in the 1970s and early 1980s before the Arvida plan, and its trees are the biggest: forty-year-old black olives, ficus and oaks on condo and townhome grounds that are maintained by the associations. Tequesta Trace, Weston Lakes and the 1980s and early-1990s sections around Weston Road have planted oaks and mahoganies now at full size and over the roofs of smaller lots.
Weston Hills Country Club, Savanna, The Falls, Emerald Estates and The Ridges are 1990s and 2000s gated communities with royal palm streets, HOA-managed common areas and architectural standards for what a yard can look like. The work there is precise: palms cleaned on the association's schedule, oaks and mahoganies pruned to a shape the HOA will accept, hedges held at the approved height. Windmill Ranch Estates and the estate sections toward the western edge have acre-plus lots, more trees, and the Everglades directly behind them.
Tree removal permits in Weston
Weston requires a tree removal or relocation permit from the city before any tree comes out, and the city issues one only when it determines there is no other way to preserve the tree. In reviewing the application the city gives priority to protected trees, and the outcome is preservation, relocation, replacement, or a payment into the Weston Tree Trust account. Any trimming, removal, relocation or root pruning not done by the homeowner personally must be done by a City of Weston registered tree service provider under Chapter 122 of the city code, so ask any crew for their registration before they start. If you live in a gated or private community, the HOA or property manager has its own approval step on top of the city's. The city's Tree Preservation Division handles permits at (954) 385-0500. We prepare the application, document the reason with photos from our ISA Certified Arborist, and coordinate the HOA approval. Our Broward tree permit guide covers the county rules underneath.
Storm season on the Everglades edge
Weston is the westernmost city in Broward and takes storms straight off the Everglades with nothing to slow them. Wilma in 2005 flattened a large share of the city's planted trees, and the lesson since then is the same every year: thinned canopies stand, dense ones go over, and royal palms shed fronds and seed pods that become projectiles if they are not cleaned before June. Spring work is thinning oaks and mahoganies so wind passes through, reducing long limbs over roofs, cleaning palms, and removing trees that are already leaning or declining. After a storm we clear trees off houses first, then streets and driveways, and cut debris to the lengths the city's contractors and the HOA haulers will collect.
